A Dress for Every Body Type

Cover Photo Courtesy of Moda Operandi

If you’re a huge fan of dresses, this article is just for you. Sometimes, we women tend to overlook some of the basics when it comes to fashion, such as the type of clothes that suit us and more importantly, our body type. And while there are no rules engraved in stone, there’s one thing we know for sure: body types do matter and can elevate our look in no time if we give them the right attention.

How many times have you seen a dress on a rack and thought to yourself “oh that looks cute”, only to have it look utterly horrible on you? I, for one, have had this problem one too many times, and have always wished I could find a solution for it. Turns out it’s not that hard to figure out once you lay down all your options. So first things first, look at yourself in the mirror and figure out what body type you have. Scroll belong to find out more:

Apple Body Shape
If you have an apple-shaped body, odds are you probably have a thicker waist and a larger upper body part. And so your best option here is to draw less attention to your upper body and highlight your legs with a swing mini-dress.

Pear Body Shape
If your derriere and thighs are substantially larger than your upper body, then you have a pear-shaped body type just like Kim K. So if you want to bring out your best features and highlight your tiny waist, you should probably go for a fit-and-flare dress to create proportion between your upper and lower part.

Hourglass Body Shape
If you have a balanced body shape with proportionate upper and lower body parts with a tiny and very well-defined waistline, then you’re one of the lucky ones. Wear whatever it is you want to wear, but we suggest you highlight your body with a bodycon dress.

Rectangle Body Shape
If you don’t have a well-defined waistline and have more of an athletic figure, then what you need here is a dress that creates the illusion of curves, such as a cinched or a ruched dress. Whatever you do though, don’t wear a straight-cut and shapeless dress.

Shorts – Anywhere, Everywhere

When it’s hot and you can barely breathe from the heat, all you need to wear is your swimsuit and your flip-flops. But since social norms don’t condone such behavior – unfortunately – we found ourselves looking for clothes that minimize the impact of the writhing sun. One of said clothes is a good old pair of shorts that you can match with pretty much anything, a fancy blouse, a standard logo tee, sneakers, sandals, kitten heels, etc…

But the kind of shorts we’re talking about here is not your average denim shorts. No. It’s much more than that. We’re talking about the tailored shorts that can make you look classy and elegant even if you’re not wearing classic trousers. The kind of shorts that can refresh your wardrobe with ease and glamor. Thankfully, this season has brought upon high-waisted tailored shorts that can be easily matched with cropped top and matching sets.

From floral shorts to more classic patterns, we’ve rounded up the tailored styles you will definitely be needing right now.

It’s a Wonderful Birthday – Celebrating Charlize Theron

Cover Photo Courtesy of Getty Images

She’s tall, she’s blonde, she’s got the eyes of a tiger – yes, we said it – and she’s Hollywood’s little sweetheart. But beyond these obvious facts, there’s something about Charlize Theron that makes everyone go gaga about her. Could it be her immense success? Or is it her charming allure? Either way, the South-African actress is quite the iconic figure in the entertainment industry and has consequently collected quite a few awards from an Academy Award to a Golden Globe Award – amongst others.

And if there’s anything we love more than her exceptional role in the movie Snow White and the Huntsman, it’s her inimitable sense of style. Yes, she’s just not an incredible actress, but she also flaunts a fabulous flair for style – something we’ve come to notice on her countless red carpet appearances and of course, off the red carpet. Of course, her model-like features helped a lot, but we can’t say we’re not head over heels for her fashionable appearances at movie premieres, elitist events and international festivals.

So, care to celebrate this wonderful actress’ birthday with us? Join us as we take you on a lovely journey through her stylish looks.

All the Printed Shirts You Need This Summer

It’s no secret that the sunny season ushers colorful clothes and a plethora of fresh and funky prints. But it’s also very obvious that the shorter the sleeves, the better you’ll be able to cope with the writhing sun. That said, one of the most trending styles for men are the ever-so iconic Hawaiian shirts – you know, the button-down shirts that reveal short sleeves and preppy prints.

The trend has been witnessing a huge surge in popularity for the last couple of years, but this season has revealed a wild range of patterns, from floral prints to monograms – we’re looking at you Fendi – and other funky symbols. The relaxed silhouettes matched with patch pockets at the chest are this season’s perfect companions for a chilled out summer. Whether you’re going to the beach, spending the day with your loved ones or just attending another Casual Friday at work, these shirts will look good with either a pair of shorts, chinos or denims.

Grab a pair of sunnies and choose your favorite shirts to rock your summer in style!

On Sundays, We Wear Green

Yes ladies. Pink is so last season. This time around, everyone who’s anyone is rooting for green and we can’t say we’re not liking it! Now we’re not saying you should substitute all your clothes with different shades of green, but the idea is, green is a refreshing addition to your summer wardrobe.

The trend first caught our attention when we saw the Spring-Summer 2019 shows, when designers and brands such as Tibi, Brandon Maxwell and Jeremy Scott sent out models wearing green shades. The result was quite the success, as the trend generated pieces upon pieces of green hues, from organza blouses, to flirty sundresses and more pared-down pantsuits. If it’s green, it’s legit. And while some people might think it doesn’t suit all reflections, we beg to differ. Whether you’re a blonde or a brunette, pale or dark, green is the must-have color to highlight your best features. With warm sunshine, long days and lighter hair, who wouldn’t want to spruce up the summer days with bright and shiny colors?

That said, we’ve rounded up a few green pieces to get you started!
