Tracksuits have made a triumphant return – much to our pleasure – and we’re all here to witness its effect on the fashion scene. And while the results were positive, there were cases where they didn’t come out looking as swag as they were meant to be.

In the early 2000s, tracksuits were a fashion must-have; everyone owned one – and we mean everyone – from Paris Hilton to Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears. Not long after that, and as the fashion life cycle would have it, they were a major don’t. Today, with the revival of the nineties, tracksuits are back in the game and not owning one means war – well not literally but you get the gist. Designers and brands have all their fingers in this pie, as we’ve witnessed one too many collaborations such as the one for Vetements x Juicy Couture.

So how will you ever pull off this trend fashionably? Our tips, right below…

Do start with just the bottom or just the jacket if you’re new to this game. As you get used to it, you’ll find yourself wearing a matching tracksuit in no time.

Don’t underestimate the power of shoes. If you’re looking for a fancy approach, pair your tracksuits with some pointy heels. But if you want something a bit edgier, you can always go for combat boots.

Do layer your tracksuits with a top as well – your options can range from a crop top, a casual tee or a classic turtleneck.

Don’t go all 50 Cent on the trend. Meaning, pay attention to the jewelry you’re wearing – exhibit A, no long gold chains please. Instead, go for layered necklaces, chokers and whatnot.

Do fancy it up with a lavish coat – from patent to fur and maxi ones, the world is your oyster!
