Prada Returns to New York City for its Resort 2020 Collection

It was in Prada’s New York headquarters, the Piano Factory, that the Prada Resort 2020 runway show took place, revealing a collection shining with both sophistication and simplicity.

With Miuccia Prada returning to the Big Apple, one could only expect a great mastery of the House’s classic creativity and elegance. That said, the collection revisited the familiar with something new yet typical. In other words, the designer sent out models wearing characteristic pieces, from overcoats to brass-buttoned blazers, eased skirts, cable knit sweaters and utility suiting – you know, the kind of clothes you would wear on a daily basis, but with a hint of unabashed elegance.

Fabrics were as traditional as ever, waving between cotton, gabardine, leather and suede. The patterns, on the other hands were very much lively, ranging from modest pinstripes and checks to micro-pattern florals and embroideries of truly naïf flowers. Glamor and sophistication came alive in a series of restrained colors such as navy, pale blue and tonal hues. It was all essential for Miuccia’s quest to establish individuality, power and strength, blended with a deep-rooted need to bring together two opposite universes of rich and humble, youth and heritage, urbanity and nature, uptown and downtown. And what better city then the cultural hub, NYC to represent these paradoxes?
