Metallics by Day

When wearing metallics, we definitely don’t want you looking like you just fell out of space or like the famous disco ball from Studio 54. But the bottom line is, metallics are in and it looks like they’re going to be around for a while. Granted, you’re already daydreaming of those silver leather pants you want to wear to your next soiree, but a little bit of daytime excitement every now and then never hurt anyone!

The thing is, runways have already proved time and time again that metallics will prevail, whether as accessories or even better, signature pieces in your wardrobe. But if we’re being completely honest here, metallics are not exactly daywear material, unless you make them so. And how can you turn something that has been long associated with nocturnal habits into a day-worthy investment? Here’s how:

  1. The trick here is not to go over the top while wearing metallic during the day. Which means, you can first start off by reserving these feisty hues for your shoes. Pick metallic ballet flats, brogues or ankle boots to go with a pretty neutral outfit.
  2. Another way to limit the metallic effect is to wear a metallic bag instead. It can easily upgrade an outfit and make a statement in the simplest kind of ways.
  3. A silver metallic blazer or perfecto can go a long way, especially if you’re aiming to up your everyday ante. Pair it with a simple dress and some fancy sneakers, and you are golden!
  4. A casual day look can be very well achieved with a pair of silver metallic trousers, from skinny pants to gauchos or wide-legged trousers. The trick here is to tone down the look with neutral basics, such as a black top or a pair of sneakers.
  5. Let the metallic piece be the one standout item in your whole look and keep everything else simple and toned down.
  6. A knife pleated metallic midi skirt is always a go-to alternative, especially when mixed and matched with a cozy knit and some white sneaks.
