Iconic Fashion Figure Karl Lagerfeld Dies at the Age of 85

It’s in the French Capital that CHANEL’s creative Director and exceptional fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has passed away, after weeks of ill-health. The designer had previously missed the French House’s Haute Couture runway show in January, during Paris Haute Couture, as the brand had issued a statement saying he was tired. It was also the very first time the designer had missed giving a catwalk- bow at the end of the runway show.

The news comes as quite a shock as the fashion industry and the rest of the world grieve the loss of a fashion icon, one who had shaped fashion in all the right ways. The German Creative Director – who was mostly known for his unique white ponytail, his black suit, fingerless gloves and black shades – had taken over the reins of CHANEL for more than three decades, had presided over Fendi’s fabulous collections and finally, had established his eponymous label “Karl Lagerfeld Paris”. He worked tirelessly till the end, built a huge fashion empire and his legacy will always prevail.
