If you are into the art of mosaic, then you will definitely fall in love with this new timepiece. Entitled Arceau Robe du Soir, this Hermès watch features a 41mm-diameter dial that, like a mosaic masterpiece, brings together 2200 tiny squares of leather to form a horse profile inspired by the house’s “Robe de Soir” silk scarf designed by Florence Manlik in 2018.
An electric blue dial and a matching strap, as well as a rose gold case, are definitely the perfect way to compliment this work of art and highlight the creativity and expertise put to achieve such a piece. Imbued with the Hermès saddle- and leather-making heritage, this watch is available in a limited numbered edition of 12 pieces.
In fact, it comes as no surprise for Hermès to unveil a new technique with this timepiece. The dial constitutes a miniature masterpiece composed of thousands of variously colored full-grain calfskin leather fragments – taking several weeks of work. As for the case, the Maison chose the one that Henri d’Origny designed in 1978 with its asymmetrical lungs, while a self-winding Manufacture Hermès movement that can be admired through the sapphire-crystal case-back drives the hour and minute hands.
