Gucci Exposes New Creative Digital Project #GucciGram

Nothing beats a “mélange” of old with new, traditional with contemporary, customary with modern.  Gucci is no stranger to this concept as it is depicted in the recently launched Gucci Blooms and Gucci Caleido prints, where floral prints and geometric motifs meet the classic GG signature design. You can think of it as a “re-looking” of an old masterpiece.

Inviting online talents, illustrators and image-makers from around the world, Gucci is digging deeper into this model with its newfound #GucciGram project. All #GucciGram participants, ranging from established names to emerging ones, are required to put together artworks that highlight the Gucci Blooms and Gucci Caleido motifs.

Responding to creative Director Alessandro Michele’s invitation to be inspired by Gucci’s new prints, the artists incorporated their respective personal visions and their own touch, concocting a portfolio that exudes complete freedom on a creative and intricate level.

You can imagine the greatness it has resulted in; a fusion deriving from Gucci prints, stirred with waves of well-known painter’s designs, cartoon characters, surreal animations or even satirical messages.

This phenomenal magical fusion presents a unique pop-cultural mash-up of eccentric and entertaining patterns.

Some of the digital creatives and artists have already established their names in the art industry, such as Kalen Hollomon exhibiting her work at Colette, Paris, Noah Kalin having a New York Times bestseller book “Cabin Porn” and Amalia Ulman exhibiting her work at Frieze in London. Others like 19-year-old Chris Rellas have yet to gain professional recognition. But one thing they all have in common is their presence on social media platforms, particularly on Instagram.

You can find the works of art at Gucci’s micro-site “gucci.com/guccigram”, which includes an introduction by Kyle Chayka, a Brooklyn-based technology and culture writer, and comments and feedbacks on the artistic endeavors.

Gucci social media channels will not miss out on the chance to exhibit this intermingling magnificence, so don’t forget to “follow”!
