We have all been waiting to see what Matthew M Williams has in store for us as Givenchy’s new Creative Director. For his first reveal, we’re witnessing his talent through the House’s Spring-Summer 2021 men and women ready-to-wear collection. Even though you can clearly see his marks, he remained faithful to Givenchy’s archives and heritage. This can be sought as a beginning of an evolution marked by the new unisex Cut-out bag and the G chains – to name a few – that give the collection an overall tone of the past and the future mixed together.
Between the use of Ottoman cotton for both genders in outerwear, technical taffeta in tailoring and different densities of injected foam in the slides, tradition is recontextualized.
