Georges Chakra Couture Fall/Winter 2019-2020 Collection

Paris’ Palais de Tokyo was home to Georges Chakra’s Fall/Winter 2019-2020 Couture show – a runway show paying homage to Hollywood’s Golden Age. The Lebanese designer hence toyed with the sophistication of Rita Hayworth, the glamour of Lauren Bacall and Audrey Hepburn’s femininity to recreate the attitude of the Golden Age.

And so, it’s within a series of multi-faceted garments that the eternal spirit of Couture came alive, unveiling a set of simple lines and rich textures – all of which take part in Chakra’s willingness to bring back the glamor of the silver screen. This obviously meant covered materials, a play of colors and a chameleon-like collection. There were jumpsuits, flowing suits, corseted jackets, structured shoulders and strapless dresses with trains. But most of all, there were crystal embroideries, twinkling tassels and a whole lot of plumes. If it was extravagant and stunning, it was there. The final bridal look was a sumptuous gown with bouffant shoulders, worn by Miss France 2018, Maeva Coucke. But perhaps our favorite moment was when Georges Chakra himself appeared on the runway holding his 1st grandchild, the adorable Lilly!
