From Nay to Yay

With our lives turned upside down, there aren’t many things that make us happy and comfortable, but we can change that by trying to uplift our spirits with a cute outfit. Filled with hope for a better tomorrow, let’s get one thing out of the way first: there’s nothing you can do to bring back an outdated outfit. If it belongs in the past, leave it there. But what you can actually do is take the pieces that are back in style and make them even more fashion-forward – without actually going on a shopping spree.

See here’s the thing. Fashion isn’t just limited to what’s trending, and what piece is the most popular along the most stylish A-listers. Fashion is also a matter of taste, knowing what to do with a certain piece of clothing and how. Knowing what suits your body and what doesn’t. Knowing where to stop and where to go all out. And it really doesn’t take a genius to do all the aforementioned “tests”. You just have to look in the mirror, examine your body, remember your style and mix them all together to form a little something called “personal style”.

But since there are always some general rules that one can apply anywhere and everywhere, we’ve gathered a few tips and tricks to help you turn an outfit from nay to yay.

  1. Always remember that a belt can do wonders to an outfit. Own a large dress which bodes a dreamy pattern? No worries, you don’t have to throw it away! Just add a belt and cinch it on your waist to add a little touch of femininity to your silhouette!
  2. Have an all-black outfit that you can’t seem to separate yourself from? Same. We don’t even want you to. Just add a couple of statement accessories with strong contrasting colors and you’re golden!
  3. Jeans can go a long way, should you choose the right ones. This season in particular, cropped mom jeans are a big hit. So pair yours with a loosely-tucked blouse, some squared-toe sandals and a mini bucket-bag!
  4. Don’t know what to do with that old denim skirt of yours? Just pair it with a statement-sleeved top and some cool sneaks!
  5. Don’t forget that any midi skirt can look gorgeous with a cinched blazer. The tighter it is on the waist, the better.
