Fashion Week Preps

With New York Fashion Week in full swing, we thought it best to highlight the frenzied month-long event that is Fashion Month – an event that kick-starts in the Big Apple and resumes its journey in the British Capital, moving on to Milan and finally to jolie Paris.

So what’s so special about that month that literally everyone gets so riled up about it? Well besides the fact that it’s clearly an excuse to tour the world per say, it’s also a celebration of the fabulousness that is fashion, with all its ups and downs. Indeed, every season, designers and big Fashion Houses unveil their latest collections to a hoard of fashion connoisseurs, A-listers and celebrities, announcing the beginning of a new fashionable era – or something less exaggerated, but you know what we mean. So it only seems fair that everyone who’s anyone prepares a month ahead for back-to-back fashion shows, star-studded events and so on.

And so, for those of you who got lucky enough to receive the prestigious invites, a little plan to get ahead of all the hectic schedules might not be such a bad idea:

  1. Know where you’re going and when. Pinning down the cities you’ll be visiting during fashion month can help you a whole lot with your wardrobe choices. For instance, London might be a tad chillier than other capitals what with its gloomy and rainy weather. Milan, on the other hand, can get a lot warmer in September.
  2. Know which fashion shows you’ll be attending. Any fashion connoisseur can tell you the following: wear the brand. Enough said. So if you pinpoint your fashion shows, you’ll be able to prioritize your outfits accordingly.
  3. Sure, fashion week is all about the glam and sass. But you should know, you’re going to be running around from one show to another. The trick here is to find the shoes that will make you feel comfortable enough to travel the world in them. If you’re a heels-lover, than pick a pair of block heels that can define your silhouette in the most comfortable kind of ways.
  4. Another trick here is to go for cross-body bags – you know, the ones that are big enough to fit your invitation cards.
  5. A little jacket can go a long way for the unexpected bad weather.
  6. Finally, lift your head up and show the world your 100-watt smile as you conquer the fashion scene!
