Easy Holiday Hair

I’m kind of obsessed with old Hollywood beauty so when the time comes to do something fancy with my hair, instead of an updo, I go for the retro waves look. Here are a few steps to achieve this look at home.

Try to do this the day after you have washed and blow-dried your hair, since it tends to hold better. Make sure to use a heat protectant or a hair oil before blow drying to make your hair look frizz free and shiny.

Part your hair to one side before you begin. Using a 1 ½ inch (32mm) barrel curler preferably without a clamp, start to curl from the front. Try to use about the same amount of hair for each curl, about an inch or so. The key to this look is to wrap the hair forward instead of back. Starting from the top, start wrapping your hair around and hold it for a few seconds. Hold the curl in your hand until it cools to set it. Make sure you are wearing a heat protecting glove during the entire curling process. To make it hold even better, you could even use a little hair pin. Do this on your entire hair. Brush out your curls, and then just pin one side of your hair up.
