For its 2021 edition, we must admit that Dubai Watch Week added an unparalleled touch of innovation and mastery to our November. In fact, the much-anticipated event had many marvels in store for us. From women to men, the novelties were definitely worth highlighting. Join us as we narrow down Azyaamode’s edit of favorite timepieces unveiled during the 5th edition of Dubai Watch Week.

Combining precision, style and sportiness, Chopard uncovered its new Alpine Eagle Cadence 8 HF. The lightweight titanium 250-piece limited edition features the Chopard Calibre 01.12-C with a high-frequency escapement, a practical 60-hour power reserve, as well as 'Chronometer' certification issued by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

Through its Super AVI B04 Chronograph GMT 46 Tribute to Vought F4U Corsair, Breitling recalls “the early days of aviation when pilots relied on their watches as onboard tools” as described CEO Georges Kern. With a blue dial, tone-on-tone chronograph counters, and a black leather strap, this timepiece finds inspiration in the characteristic livery of the record-breaking naval aircraft.

Inspired by the iconic Balancier S, Greubel Forsey presents yet another signature piece. Balancier S2 is a titanium timepiece that stands at the heart of 21st century fine watchmaking through its spirited, contemporary and imposing style. For the first time, the central double-arched bridge has been openworked, leading to a lighter, simpler and uncluttered design.

Legacy Machine Flying T Allegra is the fruit of the collaboration that brought together Bvlgari and MB&F. The unexpectedly feminine timepiece blend two mindsets and two unconventional creative approaches. Both known for their strong characters, the two watchmaking houses created a timepiece in which vividly colored gems meet the domed sapphire crystal graciously unveiling its complications and mechanism.

In a unique tribute to the UAE’s 50th national day, Hublot presented the Classic Fusion Chronograph Concrete Sand, a timepiece that brings historic materials to light – sand and camel leather. Symbolizing strength and endurance is the fine concrete of which is made the 45mm case and the matching bezel. And while the minute detailing evokes UAE’s cities’ edges and structure, the dial features actual sand from this land.

A masterpiece that stands halfway between design and engineering, Jacob & Co.’s Bugatti Chiron Green Sapphire Crystal is an achievement in contemporary high watchmaking. A totally transparent case made entirely of sapphire crystal is one of many technical innovations that make it so special, along with the visceral sensation of the iconic Bugatti W16 engine in a timepiece.
