Details that Would Make Your Summer Wedding Just Perfect!

When preparing for your wedding, perfection is something that can never be compromised. So, what if your wedding is in summer, when the sun shines so gloriously and temperatures are at an all-time high? Well, that definitely makes the task harder but here are some tips to make it easier on you!

  • First and foremost, an outdoor wedding in the GCC is quite impossible, so opt for a destination where the warm summer weather is bearable for you and your guests.
  • Take advantage of the refreshing and joyful summer colors – which will make you such a distinguished bride thanks to the colorful bouquet you’re carrying.
  • Nothing is more sophisticated and refined than lavender, so use the latter as a decoration or a flavor that sets the tone for your wedding cake.
  • In the scorching heat, nothing can make water fresher than the refreshing flavor of mint, lemon and strawberries when bottled in big dispensers. Quite a special way to keep your guests hydrated, don’t you agree?
  • Another detail that makes what you’re serving on this big day quite special is a gelato station!
  • Now it’s time to talk about the decoration. Summer rhymes with beach, so it would be a great idea to decorate the table with pieces related to this theme especially if you’re having a beach wedding.
  • Also ideal for summer is a welcome bag that you offer to your guests featuring items related to this season such as towels, sunglasses, an umbrella to protect them from the sun…
  • As for your beauty, avoid wearing your hair down and opting for heavy makeup that may get smudgy later on. Tell your hairdresser and makeup artist about the theme of your wedding and the location in order for him to do the necessary to keep your look perfect until the end of the day.
  • If the sun is out, alwayskeep a pair of sunglasses next to you in order to protect your eyes from the sun. And hey, choose ones that go well with the style of your dress!
  • If you’re into hair accessories, do not hesitate to flaunt your sophisticated style with an exquisite hat if your wedding happens to be during the day. However, a flower crown is always a good idea for the brides with bohemian taste.

Books We Love – La Colombe d’Or

Cover Photo Courtesy of Assouline

“Provence has a treasure; it’s a Colombe d’Or. It has the precious scent of thyme and nostalgia and the golden color of olive oil and happy days. The Colombe is a part of my life. For me, it’s a place that’s as full of promise as of magnificent memories. The Colombe is indefinable, inimitable. I’m happy that today a book brings back the atmosphere of this place which is like no other in the world,” said French artist César in his preface for this release. Indeed, somewhere in the South of France, world-renowned La Colombe d’Or hotel and restaurant brings together Provençal art de vivre and a stunning private collection of modern art. It all started in 1920, when the place was first opened as Chez Robinson café. It didn’t take too long for this charming place and its astonishing open-air terrace to become very popular and expand into what it is today.

Thanks to owner Paul Roux’s passion for arts, the walls quickly became a display of paintings that were often exchanged for a stay or a few meals. This actually comes as no surprise, taking into consideration that Matisse, Braque, César, Calder, Léger and many other artists were regular visitors leaving magnificent works in this wonderful place. With such an impressive history, this book truly reflects the charm of this treasure in the South of France, in which this unique art collection continues to grow until today with the next generation of the Roux family taking care of the legendary Colombe d’Or.

Things to do the Night Before your Wedding Day

Getting married is probably one of the most – if not the most – memorable event in a woman’s life. And planning for the big day? Well it might just be one of the most stress-inducing, nerve-wracking, tiring processes in the world of events. But the fact is, it never stopped anyone from doing it properly and it probably never will.

A bride only wants three things: one, for everyone to have fun at her wedding, two, for the groom not to run awa, and three, for every single thing to go as planned. And while these requests might seem extremely small to any other human being, a bride can never contain the level of stress when it comes to her one and only wedding – hopefully. With that in mind, can you imagine how nervous a bride must be the night before the big day?

So bride-to-be, if you’re having wedding jitters and can’t help shake off the horrible thoughts, then we’ve got just the thing for you. We’ve compiled a list of must-do things before you get hitched. You’ll thank us later.

  1. There’s nothing quite like peace of mind. But in order to achieve that, you’re going to want to align everything so that it all goes smoothly. Last-minute arrangements can range from packing flats for the party, to making sure the rings are in good hands and so on. Make a checklist and make sure you follow through every point.
  2. Pack a bag of personal items – items that you might be needing come the big day. Don’t over-pack though!
  3. Eat well. We can’t stress this enough. We don’t want you to end up not fitting in your wedding gown but we also don’t want you to faint as you walk down the aisle. Eat lots of fruits and veggies and make sure you load upon Vitamin C before the big day.
  4. Touch base with your wedding planner. Odds are she knows what she/he’s doing more than you do, so delegate your last-minute tasks and give yourself some time to rest.
  5. Drink a lot of water to help reduce your anxiety level. Enough said.
  6. Sleep well. Don’t stay up until 3 am and complain the next day about how tired you are. The more you relax, the better you’ll wake up in the morning.
  7. Spend your last night with your friends and keep your worries tucked away, deep in a little drawer!

Protect Your Kids from the Sun with These Indoor Activities

It’s July, which means the weather is pretty hot and the sun is sizzling. Therefore, the best thing to do is to keep your kids indoors, especially between 12 noon and 4 in the afternoon. However, it’s always hard to convince a child to stay indoors when all they want to do is go out and play, so you better find them a fun alternative and that’s what we’re here for!

  • Your little ones just want to have some fun and by scheduling play dates once a week, you will get your kids to look forward to meeting their friends.
  • Does your kid like camping? Well luckily for you, children’s toy stores are full of easily buildable indoor tents that can also be considered a décor item in their room. Help them build it and let it be the realm that will be the house of their puppets and dolls.
  • No matter the weather or the circumstances, your children spend at least one hour on YouTube a day, so why don’t you use this app to teach them some handcrafts and spend hours trying to do them together?
  • Legos, puzzles and crafts are a few activities that can help your kid’s imagination and creativity grow, so let them tell you which one is their favorite and make it a hobby. Book them some time with a teacher who can help them learn how to play an instrument or teach them how to dance, if this is what they like.
  • Summer is the perfect time to eat ice cream and sorbets, so instead of buying them from the supermarket, why don’t you put your aprons on together and prepare them in the comfort of your own kitchen – the healthy way of course!

These are just a few ideas that will encourage your kid to spend some time indoors, and we’re sure that we’ve provided you with some inspiration to come up with other creative ones yourself.
