Chopard Creates Sword for Andreï Makine

Maison Chopard presented yet again flawless expertise upon the creation of academician Andreï Makine’s ceremonial sword, proving its prestigious place in the jewelry world.

The Franco-Russian novelist who was elected by the French Academy as a future “Immortel” received his sword from the hands of French novelist and journalist Danièle Sallenave and is now a proud processor of a truly symbolic and emotional custom. The beautiful work of art unveils a set of motifs perfectly representing Makine’s personality, from his favorite season down to the silver pommel alluding to Russian folk tales and the letter “F” spelt in Cyrillic and in the French alphabet. The journey continues with 500 tiny emeralds and 11 white diamonds true to the Maison’s “Happy Diamonds” principle.

The endeavour itself is the first of its kind for Chopard with the iconic institution, but they seem to be both sharing the same respective values and bold creativity. Along with a team of 11 fine artisans, Chopard succeeded with flying colors as it took on the initiative to create a state-of-the art sword, worthy of the Academician’s irreverent talent.
