Cartier’s Newest Gem: Baignoire

One of Cartier’s priorities is to reveal beauty in all its guises. Therefore, transforming objects and embracing beauty are always on top of their to-do-list which resulted in the release of the Baignoire watch.

Baignoire watches have been distinguished at Cartier since 1912, when Louis Cartier took the traditional round watch shape and elongated it. After extensive research, the watch reached a shape with two straight, parallel lines joined by two curves, which formed the silhouette of a bathtub (baignoire in French) – hence its name.

The design of the Baignoire watch didn’t change but the piece itself evolved to offer a narrower bracelet and redesigned Roman numerals on a silvered sand-blasted background. Moreover, sculpted gold is worked into studs stylishly adopted into the shape of the Clou de Paris and taken from Cartier’s jewelry repertoire.

Today, Baignoire watch found a new way to stand out, especially since it’s a signature watch for ambitious women who seek fashionable jewelry. This piece of timeless French Chic brings forth new desires, such as the yearning to shine in exuberant elegance.
