Many brides have kept the tradition of having a party before the wedding, where she covers her hands in Henna and the groom's family comes over to "steal" her. These days this has become more like a "pre" party for guests to celebrate and get to know one another before the wedding. Traditionally, the Henna was done because they believed that by painting the hands of the bride and other women in her wedding party, it would bring good luck and fertility to the bride and groom. Also, the bride would paint one nail a dark color so that when the groom's family comes to find her, they would know which one she is. This is such a fun tradition and can be carried out in a modern way by painting perhaps your ring finger with a color which is a sparkly, glittery pink shade.
