Breitling Celebrates Its Navitimer’s 70s in Bold Colors and Enhanced Styling

70 years have passed and Breitling’s Navitimer is beloved by aviators and tastemakers alike. This year, to celebrate its anniversary, the brand redesigns a whole new collection of Navitimer watches that takes the timepiece’s classic features and enhances them with modern elements.

It all started with Willy Breitling developing a wrist-worn chronograph with a circular slide rule that would allow pilots to perform all necessary flight calculations in 1952. And when two years later the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association announced it as its official timepiece, the Navitimer was born.

Bringing together function and style, the new Navitimer is still unmistakably recognizable from afar. However, a closer look unveils its modern refinement – think a flattened slide rule and a domed crystal create the illusion of a more compact profile, alternation between polished and brushed finishes that give the metal elements a lustrous yet understated quality, and a slimmer silhouette on the oscillating weight enhances the open-caseback view of the COSC-certified Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, to name a few.
