Every marvel begins with a drawing – whether in fashion, jewelry, or any other creative field. In fashion, sketches are the prediction of every piece that later becomes a trend or an icon. A drawing is in fact the expression of a designer’s ideas, patterns and prints. With this in mind, it comes as no surprise when fashion illustrations are celebrated with a book.

Entitled “Illustration Now! Fashion”, this volume features 90 artists from the world over including Ruben Toledo, Aurore de La Morinerie, Bil Donovan, Tanya Ling and Jean-Philippe Delhomme. This is not all, as this book also includes quotes by experts from the fashion industry: think Valentino complimenting the work of Gladys Perint Palmer and many other fashion houses such as Maison Martin Margiela, Dior and Louis Vuitton praising talents in the illustration field.

The book starts with an introduction by illustration expert Steven Heller, then art and fashion historian Adelheid Rasche deeply explores this topic through a historical essay, looking back to the 17th century up until today and showcasing drawings by masters such as Paul Iribe, René Gruau, Antonio Lopez and François Berthoud.
