Exploring the complex interaction between design and the environment, Prada presents the 2023 Prada Frames symposium. Held in Hong Kong and Milan, the event is curated by Formafantasma, a research and design studio based in Milan and Rotterdam. The latter is renowned for its close attention to the social and political implications of design and its critical use of materials, and with the House, they chose “Materials in Flux” as the theme. The symposium will examine the concept of waste as matter in transformation while aiming to unpack the complex relationship between matter and ecosystems.
As a first step, the symposium will take place on 21 and 22 March 2023 at M+ in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District, Asia’s first global museum of contemporary visual culture. The Italian event will then follow in Milan on 17, 18 and 19 April within the framework of the Salone del Mobile. All in all, Prada will be bringing together scholars and professionals from various fields to come up with a collective reflection that combines innovative lines of thought to analyze, contextualize and define a new reality.
