A perfume is a harmony of scents that come together to form memories. Just like musical notes form a song, different scents complete each other in order to give the wearer a feeling of happiness, freshness and relaxation. What makes a perfume appealing and complete? Three classes of scents contribute to the beauty of a fragrance, which are top, heart and base notes. As delicate as balancing these three would be, the result will certainly always be charming.

Have you ever heard of the memory of a scent? Well, here’s what it’s all about. Every person finds a certain scent unforgettable even if they only smelled it once. In the structure of a perfume, the base note is what sticks on your skin after the top notes evaporate and the heart notes reveal their ability to enhance its beauty. Therefore, it’s the note that triggers the memory of something meaningful in our minds and becomes connected to our emotions. Although base notes only form 10 to 25% of the total fragrance, they are the ones to provide the wearer with an everlasting impression of the perfume. Richness is essential when choosing a base note, and to be able to clearly smell it, you need to wait until the other notes completely evaporate.

Cedarwood, vanilla, patchouli, amber, sandalwood and musk are some of the most common base notes used in perfumery, setting the tone for stunning and harmonious blends of scents.
