It was in September 2016 that Alba's School of Fashion Design was conceived, aimed at offering a platform for students to express themselves through a 3-year program in Fashion Design. The degree itself is under the sponsorship of Rabih Kayrouz and in partnership with the Fashion Design and Fashion Design department of ENSAV - La Cambre, Belgium and gives student the opportunity to bring together fashion and art with creativity and hard work.
And so, this year in particular saw the launch of the very first Alba Mode Show, the school’s first annual fashion show that is aimed at showcasing the students’ talents to a very wide audience. Indeed, the Academy’s atrium welcomed fifteen students representing all year categories – all of whom presented their designs to the members of the jury, both local and international, alongside a wide audience of fashion professionals, specialized media as well as friends and relatives.
The entire event was designed and created by both students and the school team and was a platform for the students to present their 3 years' works and have their hard work come alive at the heart of a moving show. The jury on the other hand consisted of key figures from the fashion world, such as Hania Yafawi (Dépêche Mode) and Raya Dernayka (Boutique Plum) as well as a group of specialized local and international media represented by Mrs. Fifi Abou Dib (L'Officiel/l'OLJ), Mrs. Sylvia Jorif and Mrs. Elisabeth Clauss (respectively free-lancer journalist and Elle Belgique).
The 60-look show was aimed at reflecting the latest trends and redefining the common perceptions of clothing by exploring the body's connection to space and how it relates to people. To top it all off, the first graduates of Alba's School of Fashion Design were awarded at the end of the show – a defining and stirring moment for everyone, from the students to the teachers, the school's director Mrs. Emilie Duval and the school's sponsor and designer Rabih Kayrouz.
After the success of the first show, we can’t wait for the second edition!
