An End to Chapped Lips

We have all experienced the frustrating feeling of having chapped lips. Let’s get to the root of the problem by first learning what causes chapped lips. The lips are the thinnest part of your skin. When the skin on your face gets dry your glands create oil to hydrate it but when it comes to your lips, the only source of hydration is saliva. So just lick your lips right? Wrong! This just makes it worse, because saliva evaporates so quickly off the lips and takes any other moisture with it.

Now that we know what causes it, how can we fix this issue once and for all? First off we need to exfoliate the dead skin. Mix some brown sugar with coconut oil and scrub the area either using a toothbrush or your fingertips.

Next, nourish your lips with a lip treatment that contains nourishing oils like Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil 01-Honey.

Vitamins are also an important way to heal chapped lips, the Jo Malone Vitamin E Lip Conditioner is another great way to promote hydration.

A luxurious option is the La Mer The Lip Balm. Apply this with your ring finger by patting it on. This will increase blood flow to the lips which will bring out the natural redness

Tinted lip balms are a great staple but sometimes it’s so hard to find the right shade. Sephora Color Reveal Lip Balm leaves out the guesswork by adjusting to your PH to give you the perfect shade of pink.

Reapply your lip balm throughout the day for the best results. Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 lives up to its name. It’s been my go-to lip balm for years. I like that I can wear it alone, mix it up with my favorite liner or lipstick and I even wear it to bed for overnight hydration.
