At a time, when none of her friends knew the names of gemstones and semiprecious stones, Danya knew them all. Having studied graphic design, interior design and art history, Danya Jabre’s interest in jewelry and gemstones never wanes. She began to design pieces for herself when she could find none that matched her style. In the winter of 2014, she launched a capsule collection of quirky Emoji themed jewelry, which luckily for her, became an instant hit. “The Emoji collection appealed to all ages, and thanks to social media, I started getting individual orders from around the globe,” she adds. “The Twist is exactly what it sounds like – jewelry with a TWIST,” says Danya, describing her brand.

For her creations, Danya draws inspiration from the modern and the mundane, blended with her sense of whimsy and humor. She also likes to design singular fun pieces that aren’t bound by collection themes like her popcorn ring. The brand initially started off at a pop-up shop in one of Beirut’s trendiest areas and has grown over time. Danya is currently working on her 2017 summer collection based on an aquatic theme. With a design inspiration like that, The Twist’s new pieces are bound to make quite a splash.
