Summer Prints – The Do’s and Don’ts

Incorporating more prints into your summer wardrobe should be no less mandatory than wearing dresses. It’s a certified way to look instantly fashionable without having to go overboard in terms of accessories and cuts. While the Spring-Summer 2017 runway was chockfull of prints and patterns, most of us get easily scared of this trend. The idea of having to mix-and-match different prints is somewhat terrifying to those of us who usually stick to neutrals, but perfecting the combination is a treat for sore eyes!

There are some prints that can enlarge your silhouette, while others render a more slim allure. So how to differentiate between them? And how to use them to your advantage? Scroll down and read our golden rules!

Do start off with printed accessories. If you’re not a big fan of prints and you’re a beginner, then just go with scarves, shoes and bags.

Don’t wear prints from head to toe. Ever. Well, unless you’re Lady Gaga.

Do keep an open mind about combinations. Yes, stripes and florals go well together and yes, gingham and polka dots make a very chic duo!

Don’t underestimate proportions. If you’re wearing a big-patterned top, minimize your prints bottom-wise.

Do use a base color. For instance, if you’re wearing a floral t-shirt with a pink backdrop, pair it with pink accessories to sustain a good flow.

Don’t forget; less is more. Always.

But most importantly, do enjoy your pattern-mixing! Channel the kid within you and let your imagination run wild and free!
