Rami Al Ali and Nadine Kanso Join Hands for a Ramadan Kaftan Collection

There’s nothing like a good and solid collaboration to spice things up in the fashion scene. With that in mind, Syrian designer Rami Al Ali is now collaborating with Beirut-born Haute Jewelry designer Nadine Kanso to create a Capsule Kaftan collection fit for Ramadan 2018.

But let’s rewind a little and give you a dose of the duo’s amazing history. Nadine Kanso has been widely-acknowledged for her jewelry brand “Bil Arabi”, a brand that boasts intricate artworks and a unique representation of the Arabic language through calligraphy. Rami Al Ali, on the other hand, is pegged to always exude style and elegance throughout his designs, combining both East and West inspirations and modern shapes with classic fabrics. So it only seemed fair that the two artists combine their talents to create an exceptional collection and bring forth the best of both worlds.

“Besides our friendship, we both share art and design backgrounds, so the idea of this collaboration came naturally to us. I love Nadine’s work as an artist and we have so much in common as we both embrace our heritage and like to showcase it in an aesthetically modern way. We also love merging the east and the west, the old and the new, and the modern and classic”, sated Al Ali.

So picture this; modern, chic and captivating kaftans that come alive in a series of top-notch fabrics, from light crepe to tweed lamé, tweed lurex and organza. To top it all off, elegant floral prints created from Kanso’s moniker Arabic calligraphy adorn shoulders, necklines, sleeves and the lengths. But perhaps the most electric element of the collection is the combination of contrasting colors between the floral embellishments and the kaftans, which shine with unique tones such as Sunny Lime, Skylight, Mother of Pearl, Citron, Peach pearl, Chalk Blue, Blush Pink, Ice Flow and more.

The capsule collection features four different designs, Hobbak Ward, Sabah Al Ward, Ward Ya Ward and Oyoonak Ward, and eight different colors – all of which will be available on www.themodist.com and in Harvey Nichols Riyadh.
