Pattern is The New Neutral

Let’s be honest here, mixing prints and patterns can be quite the headscratcher. I mean, how can you pull off this trend without looking like you got dressed in the dark? Better yet, how can you match patterns that weren’t meant to be harmonized in the first place? With an array of prints out there and many stylish combinations to meet, you have so many options to achieve a fashionable allure.

Thankfully, there are many tricks that you can use to facilitate this daunting task. And yes, with these helpful tips, you’ll think you just died and went to a psychedelic heaven! Scroll on to get a little insight on how to pull of mixing prints like a true fashion connoisseur.

1-Choose a solid base color that can be found in all the prints you’re mixing together. For example, if you’ve chosen a red color, make sure that the rest of your prints include this same shade in order to create one single outline. At the end of the day, the prints don’t have to match, but your colors do!

2-Avoid pulling an all-patterned look. Try to neutralize your outfit with a solid and neutral little something to break the excitement. Meaning, if you’re wearing floral pants, opt for a light-colored top to compliment it, and vice versa.

3-Forget all clichés; stripes do go well with florals and polka dots do match well with other prints.

4-Play with the scales and sizes to create some sort of fun within your outfit. For instance, mix thin stripes with big and bold polka dots and so forth.

5-If you think your outfit is a bit too much, tone it down with a solid belt at the waist.

6-But most of all, always accessorize!
