Net-A-Porter Celebrates Its New Designers

It was at the heart of Dubai’s Design District that online retailer Net-A-Porter partnered up with the Dubai Design & Fashion Council for a private panel discussion in ode to its new designers Borgo de Nor, Carmen March, Oscar Tiye and Sara Battaglia.

The discussion, hosted by Net-A-Porter’s Retail Fashion Director Lisa Aiken and moderated by WWD’s Middle East Correspondent Ritu Upadhyay, exploited the nature of retail for emerging fashion talent in the digital age. And as the site’s new emerging designers shared their personal success stories, the panel was later on supported with an open question forum allowing members of the DDFC’s designer program to ask more questions about the panel member’s experiences. With over 160 guests attending the discussion, from the press to influencers, NET-A-PORTER’s EIP’s (Extremely Important People) and emerging and established designers from the UAE, the event was as fruitful as ever!

“We are honored to be working in association with the DDFC on this initiative. Emerging designers are key to NET-A-PORTER and we are always looking to support and nurture new talent. We are delighted to be celebrating with these four designers in the Middle East, where there is such exciting growth in the market,” said Lisa Aiken, Retail Fashion Director at NET-A-PORTER.

Jazira Aldhanhani, CEO of Dubai Design & Fashion Council commented: “The Dubai Design & Fashion Council is pleased to have partnered with NET-A-PORTER to give designers in the UAE the opportunity to learn from leading fashion ecommerce platforms and international emerging designers on the challenges and opportunities of fashion retail in this age. Partnerships such as these align with our mandate to raise the profile of Dubai as a regional and global destination for design and are instrumental in building conversations within the design community’s in the region.”
