Jaeger-LeCoultre’s New Master Ultra Thin Squelette Watch Is on Its Own League

With a special attention to lightness, Jaeger-LeCoultre releases the new ‘Master Ultra Thin Squelette’ collection. Featuring four new watches that embody JLC’s creativity and time-old skills, the Master Ultra Thin Squelette’ carries the wearer to its beating heart.

A tradition that dates back to 1907, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s ultra-thin watches are paired with delicate skeleton working, engraving, enameling and gem-setting. The gear wheels and the engraved bridges are displayed on the dial that resembles a labyrinth with a reflecting glow from all corners. Also featuring JLC’s Calibre 849ASQ, the Master Ultra Thin Squelette’s dial is divided into 12 zones – each marked with clear hour-indicators.

The timepiece’s front and back aesthetic is the main focus of this design which sets this watch apart and makes for a harmonious time reading. The concept of Rare Handcrafts (or Métiers Rares) comes alive through the arts of enameling, engraving and gem setting.

Within an ultra-thin 3.6 mm thick case, the white or pink gold is first embellished with a guilloché motif in a strong deep blue for the white version and a chestnut brown for the pink-gold one. Available in 100-piece limited series, these two models also include a back that provides a mirror image of the hour-zone design with an energetic touch of color.

For this new collection, the house makes a bold choice by using mother-of-pearl and diamonds on a men’s watch. In the gem-set Master Ultra Thin Squelette, the light resides in the timepiece’s components engraved with techniques that highlight subtle contrasts. The natural white mother-of-pearl adorns each time-zone, giving the dial a one-of-a-kind shimmer – while the diamond-set bezel renders a sophisticated finish. The back provides an identical image of the face of the watch, which comes in white or pink gold with each model available in a 100-piece limited series – time has never looked so elegant and sophisticated.
