Dressing Up for a Date - The Do’s and Don’ts

He finally asked you out! That cute guy you were eying the other day finally got the courage to ask you out on a date! You’ve got everything ready- from the small conversations up to your hairdo- but what will you ever wear? While there aren’t any strict guidelines in terms of dressing up for a date, there are some outfits that instantly gain you a few points while others are just a huge fashion faux pas! But there’s just so much pressure related to the occasion that you just want to cancel the whole thing, right? Nope. Calm down, relax and let us make your prepping moments 10 times easier!

Do add a little glamorous spin to your outfit. Sure, we don’t want you to go overboard with your outfit and risk having your date run away, but a little something from here and there wouldn’t hurt. Our advice? Opt for a statement top or a statement skirt.

Don’t over-accessorize. We really want your date to look at you and not at your overwhelmingly shiny jewelry!

Do pick your most comfortable shoes. How will you ever get to your date if you’re limping, correct? Some low-heeled stilettos would do the trick.

Don’t forget about the notion of balance. If your top is a bit revealing, then opt for more discrete jeans. If you want to wear a skirt or a dress, then just go for a more sealed neckline.

Do consider the destination. If you’re going on a laid-back date, just wear something casual. If you’re going to a fancy restaurant, then step up your game with a little black dress!

Don’t over-do it in terms of makeup. There’s nothing more repulsive for men than too much makeup!

Do consider his height. If he’s slightly shorter, take it easy on the heels.

But most of all, do enjoy your night out, because there’s nothing more fun than getting to know someone you like!
