Al Tayer and charity Beacon of Hope UAE are collaborating this Ramadan on a charitable retail initiative, in an attempt to provide hope and light to children living in poor and war-torn countries through the delivery and assembly of a solar light kit known as “beacon in a box”.

The latter was initially set up back in March 2016 under the patronage of Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, granddaughter of HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. With this initiative, the children are given the opportunity to assemble their own light, allowing them to understand science and physics of solar-light better, and giving them a sense of accomplishment.

Having impacted a lot of children in need – from Liberia to rural Morocco, Djibouti, Zanzibar, Yemen, Somalia, Puerto Rico and the refugee camps in both Jordan and Iraq – these lights hold the power to provide opportunity and growth.

And so, the special collaboration was launched at Bloomingdale’s in the presence of Sheikha Shamma’s brother, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan and CEO of Al Tayer Group, Khalid Al Tayer. A mini-workshop was also available for everyone to build their own light, giving yet another powerful meaning to Ramadan.
